Dr. Shiilpaa Mehta is a committed child rights professional, social innovator, and the Founder and President of Foster Care Society. With a deep belief that every child has the right to grow up in a loving family, she has dedicated her work to strengthening family-based care systems and preventing unnecessary institutionalization of children.
Under her leadership, Foster Care Society has emerged as a pioneering organization working in close collaboration with government bodies, communities, and national and international partners to promote foster care, family preservation, adoption, and aftercare in accordance with the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015. Her approach combines grassroots engagement with system-level advocacy to ensure sustainable and child-centred solutions.
Dr. Mehta brings extensive 22 years experience in child protection, community development, capacity building, and policy implementation. She has actively contributed to training government officials, caregivers, and social workers, and has played a key role in promoting best practices and evidence-based models for non-institutional care.
