Finding Family: Sonia’s Path to Hope and Confidence

Sonia spent her early childhood in institutional care before being placed with a single foster mother who already had an adopted daughter. Having lived in an institution for several years, Sonia initially struggled to trust, communicate, and adjust to family life. Her foster mother focused on patience and acceptance, helping her feel safe and valued. Today, at 12 years old, Sonia is thriving. She is studying in Class 5 at Mikado Kids School, performs well academically, actively participates in extracurricular activities, and shares a loving bond with her foster family. Her journey highlights how a caring and supportive home can positively transform a child’s life.

When Care Becomes Family: Vaibhav’s Path to Progress

Vaibhav was placed in a Child Care Institution after losing his mother and being diagnosed with cerebral palsy, developmental delay, and hearing impairment. A health worker who cared for him developed a strong bond and later became his foster mother with support from Foster Care Society. In foster care, Vaibhav showed significant improvement—from being bed-bound to walking with a walker, eating independently, recognizing family members, and expressing himself through gestures and words. With ongoing care, monitoring, and support, Vaibhav continues to progress, highlighting the life-changing impact of a loving foster family for children with special needs.

A Mother’s Journey from Despair to Empowerment

Surviving years of domestic abuse and the loss of her husband, this resilient mother was left to care for six children with no financial support. Despite personal tragedies and ongoing health challenges within her family, she refused to give up. With guidance from Foster Care Society (FCS), Udaipur, she rebuilt her life by completing stitching training, earning from home, and ensuring her daughters’ education, while her son received support under the Palanhar Scheme. Actively involved in FCS summer camps, she promotes child safety and community participation. Today, she aspires to join a Self-Help Group and enroll her daughters in income-generation programs—continuing her journey toward dignity, stability, and empowerment.

Stitching Confidence: Rita’s Journey to Self-Reliance

At 40, Mrs. Rita was a quiet woman with dreams of becoming self-reliant, though opportunities were limited. Her journey changed when she joined a six-month sewing training program by the Foster Care Society. Initially hesitant, she gradually gained confidence and professional skills with every stitch. After completing the training, Rita began stitching clothes from home, soon earning steady work as her skills became known in the community. Today, she earns around ₹7,000 per month and also trains women and adolescent girls, turning her home into a space of learning and empowerment. Rita's story reflects how skill development can build confidence, independence, and the power to uplift others.
